Find out how leading clinics use CUREO

Benedictus Krankenhaus Feldafing

The Benedictus Hospital Feldafing is an academic teaching hospital of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and is one of the most modern clinics in Germany for further treatment in acute and rehabilitation medicine in the fields of neurology, geriatrics and orthopaedics. The Pain Center has also been one of Europe's largest specialist facilities for the multimodal treatment of chronic pain for decades and treats all types of pain both on an inpatient and day-care basis.

One of the main reasons for Prof. Dr. Dirk Sander to implement CUREO® was, that it can be used across the entire spectrum of patients: From the severely affected in early rehabilitation to continuing rehabilitation.

Johanniter-Ordenshaus Bad Oeynhausen

Johanniter-Ordenshaus Bad Oeynhausen is a high-performance, modern rehabilitation center, with a long history: They have been focusing on people's health since 1878. The clinic is specialized on providing rehabilitation measures and follow-up treatment for patients with neurological, orthopaedic and geriatric conditions, including the consequences of accidents and injuries. Primary goal is to provide holistic, interdisciplinary care for their patients.

They have chosen CUREO®, because it stimulates the release of positive hormones, when therapy is carried out, which is very important for regeneration. Also, they highlight the relevant aspect of promoting the neuroplastic processes in the brain, which CUREO® supports.

Schön Klinik Bad Aibling Harthausen

The Schön Klinik Bad Aibling Harthausen offers a wide range of highly qualified and interdisciplinary medical care. The specialist clinic has more than 440 beds and provides state-of-the-art treatment methods with specialized orthopaedic and neurological expertise at the highest level with around 1300 employees.

Prof. Dr. Klaus Jahn (head physician, specialized in neurology, neurological intensive care medicine, and physical therapy) and his team use CUREO® primarily in occupational therapy in group settings for stroke patients and geriatric patients. He values the system's flexibility which can be deployed within the full spectrum of patients' needs: From severely affected patients to aftercare.

Segeberger Kliniken

The "Segeberger Kliniken", based in Bad Segeberg, is the largest private hospital company in Schleswig-Holstein. In the acute and rehabilitation sector, they offer patients a holistic range of medical services: general medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, orthopedics and trauma surgery, cardiology and angiology, cardiovascular surgery, psychosomatic medicine and neurology. Their Neurological Center offers a wide range of diagnostic, treatment and therapeutic services with the aim of helping patients regain independent mobility.

They implemented Virtual Reality therapy with CUREO® into their broad spectrum of therapeutic offers, as it serves with their focus especially chronically neurologically ill patients (Parkinson's syndrome, spasticity in multiple sclerosis or stroke patients) and as it fits perfect into "everyday therapy".

Why leading clinics choose CUREO

By immersing patients into a virtual world, they forget the pathologizing, clinical environment around them and start having fun while training their impacted motoric or cognitive functions. Thanks to gamification, patients experience a sense of achievement, which scientifically proven leads to increased motivation and overall therapeutic success.

CUREO® enables new aftercare concepts such as blended rehabilitation, with patients leaving inpatient facilities and continueing training in their own homes. The option to continue rehabilitation in a comfortable environment and surrounded by family or friends supports the healing process while freeing up urgently needed clinic space.

With the new group therapy concept, one therapist can now take care of up to 6 patients at the same time – resulting in more available therapy sessions and thereby in a higher therapy frequency. Additionally, smart features for (e.g.) documentation or progress evaluation support therapists in their daily work and improve overall efficiency.

CUREO® is bedside compatible and brings therapy to the patient to provide immediate, high-frequency training without infrastructure requirements.

Clinicians' Feedback:

"I suddenly lifted my left arm, which usually doesn’t really do anything because of the pain."

Stroke patient with hemiparesis

"CUREosity is an impressive example of innovative medical technology from North Rhine-Westphalia. Virtual reality applications offer opportunities to enormously improve rehabilitation in complex neurological diseases."

Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart

Former minister for economic affairs, innovation and digitalization of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (2017-2022)

"What fascinates us about VR therapy is the possibility of starting therapy at the bedside with little effort, for example when it comes to spatial awareness or head movements."

Prof. Dr. Dirk Sander

Chief Physician of Neurology Neurocenter Tutzing-Feldafing

"Being in a virtual environment really changes the way you perceive pain. The primary focus is not the pain anymore, but in what world you are in."
